Remember, Remember the Fifth of November
Remember, Remember the Fifth of November, The Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be Forgot
Day 3 of my adventure was my favorite so far. I know theres not much to compare it to yet, but hey, who are you to judge. My outlook on life was much better considering the night before I was a little stressed out about finding my way around. But then my travel instincts kicked in and I realized it was easy to get around, ill just chalk that one up to jet lag, aka waking up at 5 in the friggin morning, yikes.
Anyway today is the day of my bus tour with the Original Sightseeing Tour of London. The weather was pretty good in the morning and then guess what, it started to rain in the afternoon and like a noob I forgot my umbrella at the hostel, Oh well, that wont happen again.
The tour was a hop on hop off tour and so I had a ton of options. I tried to hop off at the Ripleys believe it or not Museum however I failed to realize it was only 9 in the morning and nothing was open yet… stupid jet lag. The next part brings me to my favorite part of the day/trip so far. I hoped off at Parliament square took some pictures of The Tower that houses Big Ben and then decided to tour Westminster Abbey. Two Words… SOOO GOOD. I decided to do the audio tour which was very educational, I learned and saw more than I ever would have on my own. It was cool to not only see the tombs of great kings and queens but also famous musician playwrights and poets. Here is where today’s theme song fits in.
George Fredryk Handel – The Messiah “Hallelujah Chorus”.
It was unreal listening to it while staring at this 800 year old building. I also had the opportunity to sit in on a service held at the Abbey and take in communion. Such a cool experience. I think my favorite part was hearing the minister pray for people all over the world, getting into specifics like the war in Iraq and the natural disasters in Pakistan. This is one thing that if you are ever in London you must take in. Sadly, There was no photography allowed so I only got picks of the outside, I shall post them on facebook soon.
Fish and Chips for Lunch – Oh Yeah!
I then used my tour pass to take a cruise down the River Thames to the Tower Of London. Seeing the expensive price to get into the place I almost didn’t go in, but I did, it was pretty cool seeing the White Tower Armory and the Crown Jewels. The one sad part of this is that halfway through my tower of London Tour my Camera ran out of Battery, sad news indeed. I took a few more pics from my phone and then decided I would head back to the hostel, recharge it and them head out again. Needless to say due to lots of rain, a tour bus that didn’t show and more jet lag I reached the hotel at 745 to the sound of fireworks heard and seen across town from celebrating Guy Fawkes day. Sadly I could not be bothered to venture out again and catch them. I went to my room and subsequently passed out at 830.
